I have always been interested in how humans interact, pervert, abstract, and separate themselves from nature. Using images as diverse and unseemingly comparable as photos from Paris Fashion Week to the satellite images of the Weather Channel, as well as historical references to Romantic landscape painters of the 19th century, I hope to create a contemporary comment on where we might be in our relationship to the natural world. I also hope to provide answers as to what the "the natural world" means. With Kool Aid staining our insides and chemicals cleaning the water we drink, what does natural even mean anymore? The environment is a current and crucial issue from a practical standpoint, but seeing how we relate to it in the cultural sphere is equally as important for answering questions about where we stand individually, and for informing the decisions that we will have to make about it in the future.
